DEA required SUD training resources

NEW EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Beginning June 27, 2023, practitioners who are renewing or applying for a new controlled substance DEA license must complete 8-hours of substance use disorder (SUD) training. Accredited trainings completed before this time may count toward the 8-hours. For further details on this requirement, review the MATE Training Letter visit ACCME or SAMHSA.

OPEN’S EDUCATIONAL OFFERINGS

OPEN has compiled a list of our current educational offerings for providers to assemble a course bundle to meet their training needs. These trainings are free and align with the new DEA SUD training requirements. MyMichigan is accredited by Michigan State Medical Society, which is accredited by ACCME.

Check out future live webinar offerings for credit through Michigan Opioid Collaborative. MOC hosts educational webinars on stigma, harm reduction, polysubstance use, chronic pain treatment, DATA 2000 Waiver Trainings, and introductory course on treating patients with buprenorphine.  Events noted to be (DEA Approved) will qualify for this requirement.

The American Osteopathic Academy of Addiction Medicine put together a list of free, online trainings and webinars that count towards the new SUD training requirements.

**American Medical Association Ed Hub

The AMA Ed Hub offers educational activities that count towards the new 8-hour SUD requirement. Topics include basics of safe opioid prescribing and management; basics of addiction treatment; management of addiction in special populations; opioids and fatalities: prevention and management; and addiction medicine during the COVID-19 pandemic.

**The American Society of Addiction Medicine

The ASAM provides approved CE recommendations that meet DEA requirements for SUD training.

**The American Society of Addiction Medicine

The American College of Physicians has provided a list of featured CME trainings and FAQs regarding the new DEA requirements.

**American Academy of Physician Associates

The American Academy of Physician Associates has put together information regarding the new SUD legislature for PA’s.

**American Academy of Anesthesiologists

The American Academy of Anesthesiologists provides this enduring material opportunity, up to 12.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits(s) for providers to meet the DEA 8-hour training requirement.

**American Association of Nurse Practitioners

The American Association of Nurse Practitioners offers a variety of training courses that count towards the new DEA SUD requirements for NP’s.
