UPDATES + NEWS STORIES
OPEN programs to run on biannual cycles, starting July 1st, 2024.
Thank you for such a positive response to OPEN’s community programming! We hear you on the need for programs like this. In order to better meet demand and practice OPEN’s value of health equity, we’re updating a few of our programs to run on an award cycle. Applications for naloxone vending machines and distribution boxes, safe storage products, and permanent disposal boxes will now be reviewed biannually. Apply July 1st through December 31st, 2024 to be considered for OPEN’s Spring 2025 program awardees. Notifications of award will be communicated in March 2025. Join us to make a difference in your community.

Same-Day Consultation Service
Our experts in addiction medicine provide prescribing guidance for Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) and acute care pain management for patients with a SUD. We also support technical assistance for MOUD treatment implementation within practices.
Printed Pediatric Materials for Pain Management
OPEN offers free printed materials shipped directly to your organization for pediatric best practices in pain management. These materials can help patients, families and providers make a plan for pain before the child’s surgery and manage acute pain following their operation.
Educational Material Co-Branding
OPEN partners with organizations to share materials and patient education information. We will add your organization’s logo alongside ours to co-brand materials, free of charge. Materials will be sent as a PDF through a DropBox link and be ready for printing.

Substance Use Disorder (SUD) is one of the most stigmatized health conditions in the world. Research indicates that stigma is persistent, pervasive, and rooted in the belief that addiction is a personal choice reflecting a lack of willpower and a moral failing. Stigma contributes to barriers in accessing treatment. People may fear being labeled or judged if they seek help, leading to delays in getting the care they need. Healthcare providers’ attitudes and behaviors toward Substance Use Disorder (SUD) can significantly impact patient outcomes and the overall approach to addressing addiction within healthcare systems.
During this webinar and interactive discussion, learn more about concrete strategies on how to break down internal biases that we hold. Additionally, we will hear from two Shatterproof Ambassadors who will share their personal stories on their journey to recovery and how stigma deeply impacted their lives and success.
