Pain Management in Dentistry CE Course
Module 1: The Role of Acute Care Prescribing in the Opioid Epidemic

- Reduce the number of opioid prescribed post-surgery in accordance with current guidelines.
- Implement best practices to increase safe disposal of unused opioids by patients.
Module 2: The Role of Dentists in the Opioid Crisis
- 1.00 continuing education credit
- Understand and identify how their own practice both contributes to and can reduce the challenge of opioid over prescription.
- List alternative pain management strategies to reduce the use of opioids.
- Reduce the use of opioids for pain management using best practice guidelines.
Module 3: Pain Management with Over-the-Counter (OTC) Analgesics
- 1.00 continuing education credit
- Determine the appropriate use of acetaminophen (APAP) when treating pain.
- Determine the appropriate use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS) when treating pain.
- Design an appropriate pain management strategy using over-the-counter (OTC) medications.
