Collective Healing Through Art: Call for Artists

In partnership with Vital Strategies and DOWNRIVER COUNCIL FOR THE ARTSMichigan Department of Health & Human Services is hosting the Collective Healing through Art: 2021 Overdose Awareness Day Exhibition to broaden awareness of the drug overdose crisis.

The Overdose Awareness Day Exhibition will feature art from individuals impacted by the drug overdose crisis and will run from Aug. 31 to Sept. 18 online and in-person at the Downriver Council for the Arts gallery (81 Chestnut St. Wyandotte, MI). The opening reception for the event will take place on Aug. 31 from 4-7 PM.

Artists will receive up to a $2,000 commission for participation. Artists are eligible to receive $1,500 for the creation of new work and/or $500 for the exhibition of existing work. We’re looking for artists of all experience levels- from emerging community artists to experienced professional artists.
