This session will review the historical barriers that have shaped access to methadone treatment for opioid use disorder and how they continue to influence care today. Participants will learn the key federal and state regulations that govern methadone and gain clarity on common myths and misconceptions. The webinar will also highlight innovative, patient-centered strategies that clinicians and community professionals can use to improve equitable access to methadone treatment.

  • Describe historical access-to-care issues related to methadone treatment for opioid use disorder.
  • Identify key federal and state regulations governing methadone treatment and how they apply to clinical practice.
  • Differentiate common myths and misconceptions about methadone from evidence-based information.
