Parents consistently report uncertainty about how to talk with their children about substance use and how to respond when concerns arise. Healthcare providers similarly report limited access to practical, evidence-informed tools that support effective conversations with families. The goal of this webinar is to share practical tools that provides Michigan families with clear answers, conversation supports, and action steps related to youth substance use prevention and early response.

Learning Objectives:

  • Examine the most recent data on youth substance use prevalence and risk factors.
  • Describe methods for engaging with experts, community advocates, and families to identify and prioritize highest-value parent and youth questions, concerns, and decision points using a collaborative, human-centered process.
  • Provide accessible, developmentally appropriate, and culturally responsive resources that help caregivers respond confidently to youth concerns.
