Harm Reduction
Harm reduction is a strategy to support people who use drugs (PWUD) by focusing on safety and overdose prevention rather than judgment. Not all PWUD are ready to stop drug use or enter into treatment, so it is important to meet people where they are and promote safer practices when possible.
Harm reduction offers a compassionate, person-centered approach to public health and individual well-being by providing access to naloxone, overdose prevention education, safe use supplies, proper wound care, and safe syringes.
Naloxone
Naloxone (Narcan) is a lifesaving medication that rapidly reverses opioid overdose. OPEN is committed to partnering with organizations around Michigan to keep our communities safe.
