Dr. Kocher is a practicing emergency physician, associate professor in the Departments of Emergency Medicine and Learning Health Sciences at the University of Michigan and a health services researcher affiliated with the Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation (IHPI). He is also the Director of the Michigan Emergency Department Improvement Collaborative (https://medicqi.org) , a network of hospitals across the state of Michigan dedicated to improving the quality of emergency care for all. This work includes improving the emergency department care of patients with opioid use disorder through implementation of take-home naloxone programs and building capacity to provide buprenorphine induction with referral.
